WHY IT MATTERS

Practising alone, it is hard to tell whether the tempo slipped or the pitch was true. Syrinx follows the score with a cursor while a sampled piano plays the accompaniment, then lets you replay the recording with a note-by-note pitch comparison.

BUILD FROM THIS

An Electron and React desktop app. It imports MusicXML, XML and MXL, reads the title, part and time signature, and keeps everything in folders on your own device. A four-beat count-in starts the accompaniment, clicking a bar jumps there, and tempo moves between 0.5x and 1.5x without changing pitch. Five pieces ship with accompaniment and artwork.

CAVEATS

The interface and documentation are Chinese-first, with an English toggle at the top right. The installers are unsigned, so SmartScreen and Gatekeeper will warn once, and Intel Macs have to run from source. The provenance and licensing of the bundled pieces is set out in the repository’s NOTICE.md.
