WHY IT MATTERS

When Flash ended, twenty years of games, animations and teaching material stopped opening. Ruffle is a reimplementation of the Flash Player in Rust, so the same SWF files run again in a browser — not Adobe’s code with a new wrapper, but a fresh implementation.

BUILD FROM THIS

Written in Rust, targeting the desktop and the web through WebAssembly. Pick a file on the web demo and it plays; there are also desktop builds, a browser extension, a version you embed in your own site, and an Android build in the repository. ActionScript 1, 2 and 3 are supported to a large degree.

CAVEATS

The project says plainly that it is not finished; complex ActionScript 3 content may not run correctly. It is licensed under Apache-2.0 or MIT, at your option.
